Wound care

Our treatment room nurses are highly skilled in wound care management, they also attend regular training to ensure they keep up to date with the latest treatment plans to ensure our patients recover from procedures and injuries quickly. Dressings are not covered by Medicare and our nurse may request you to bring particular dressings along with your next appointment. The dressing requested has been deemed the most effective for your wound management. Should you be on a concession card, you will be bulk billed under Medicare for the appointment, otherwise a Medicare rebate private fee is billed.

BMC nurses are kept up to do with the latest immunisation protocols and strategies introduced by the Australian Federal Government Health Department, attend annual immunisations training also. For childhood immunisations, especially for those that are requiring ‘catch ups’ the nurse will be in contact with VIVAS for which immunisations your child requires, prior to the appointment. When you phone to book your appointment, our receptionist may direct your call to the nurse, who will take your child’s details and plan ahead of the booked appointment for the immunisations needed, this may include a phone call to VIVAS if required. Your child will first see your usual GP for a health check to ensure the child is fit for immunisation that day, you will then be directed to the Treatment Room and our immunisation nurse will administer the appropriate immunisations. For adults, there are various Federal Government initiatives, that change regularly, please discuss with your GP, if you are eligible for a particular vaccine under these initiatives, a booking slip will be given to you and you will be directed around to the treatment room. Other immunisations, including travel vaccines, your GP will provide you with a prescription, whereby you have this filled by the pharmacy then bring the immunisation directly back to the treatment room on the day, or the next day, another GP visit will not be needed.

Other procedures

Our nurses also provide other services, an appointment is required, please contact our receptionist and they will provide you with the information required as well as an appointment, all of which will also require some time booked with your GP.
